Casting is complete for Lincoln Center Theater's forthcoming production of Broke-ology by Nathan Louis Jackson. The play will begin previews at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre on September 10 and will open on October 5, directed by Thomas Kail (In the Heights, The Wiz).
Broke-ology will feature Francois Battiste (Prelude to a Kiss, The Good Negro), Crystal A. Dickinson (The First Breeze of Summer, Home), Alano Miller (Marcus: O the Secret of Sweet at McCarter Theater) and Wendell Pierce (Serious Money, The Boys of Winter, TV's The Wire).
Jackson's play centers on the King family, who have weathered the hardships of life and survived with their love for each other intact. But when two brothers (Battiste and Miller) are called home to take care of their ailing father (Pierce), one of them must choose to follow the life he dreams of or honor the unspoken promise of loyalty to his family. The play premiered last summer at the Williamstown Theatre Festival with Battiste and Pierce in the cast.
Broke-ology will have sets by Donyale Werle, costumes by Emily Rebholz, lighting by Jason Lyons and sound by Jill BC DuBoff.
